Two out of three Americans think spontaneous vacations are the best

Two in three Americans (67%) with travel plans for 2023 believe the best trips are spontaneous, while 73% would like to travel to a surprise destination.

This is according to a survey conducted by budget hospitality brands Motel 6 and Studio 6 in February 2023 among a sample of 2,000 Americans who intend to travel this year.

78% of Americans want to travel with other people while nearly one in three (28%) plan to explore new destinations with their pet.

44% admit they will book a different type of holiday this year, with 47% looking to travel off-season or at the weekend rather than during holidays or public holidays.

32% said they are seeking longer vacations than in the past.

Regardless of length of stay, 49% say they plan to stay in a hotel or motel, and 66% value reward programs.
